Lux
lxShort definition
The intensity of light falling on a surface, measured in lumens per square meter (lm/m²). It is the core unit for illuminance levels.
In detail
The same fixture yields high lux in a small room and low lux in a large area, because lux depends on the area the light spreads over. Standards (EN 12464-1) define target lux per space type: 500 lux for offices, 100 lux for corridors.
